This year, we're heading to Dutch Design Week with a very special invitation. We've been selected for the Secrid Talent Podium 2026, together with six other designers who use design to change their industry for the better.
That means that instead of our regular spot at Piet Hein Eek, you'll find us at Dutch Design Weeks' main venue Klokgebouw this year!
About Secrid and the Impact Fund
You probably know Secrid from their well designed cardprotectors and wallets.

Founded in 2009 by René van Geer and Marianne van Sasse van Ysselt, Secrid has always done things its own way: independent of shareholders, with a focus on long product life, local production, social inclusion and repair.

Through the Secrid Impact Fund, they donate 1% of their revenue and more than 10% of their profit every year to designers who create lasting positive change within their industry.

The Secrid Talent Podium is one of the fund's projects. Each year at Dutch Design Week, Secrid and the Dutch Design Foundation put seven designers in the spotlight, and this is the fifth edition.

Secrid calls their philosophy Industrial Evolution: every new product should be better than the one before it. That feels very familiar to us, as our own products are designed to be understood, repaired and kept for a long time.

Why food waste?

Almost a fifth of all food produced worldwide ends up as waste, and more than half of that happens at home. Buying too much and storing it the wrong way are the main culprits.
.
We know, because it happened to us too.
Even though we tried to be conscious about food, every now and then something still ended up in the bin.
From an overripe banana to a wrinkled bell pepper.Turns out we didn't know that much about storing fresh produce.

So we started digging: into the biology of ripening and decay, the ideal storage conditions for each fruit and vegetable, historical storage techniques from around the world, and their nutrients and footprint.

We used our knowledge to design products, but collected so much, it has grown into a library, one fruit or vegetable at a time.

The Secrid Talent Podium is a joint exhibition, designed by Raw Color.
Within it, we're sharing the research behind Cibus Domus: years of digging into how 200 kinds of fruit and vegetables ripen, spoil and keep, and how to store them better.

For the first time, you can leaf through the first version of the Cibus Domus handbook, where all that knowledge comes together.

And of course, we're bringing the designs that put this research into practice: the Patera Magna fruit bowl that keeps produce fresh with natural evaporative cooling, the Patera Matura to manage the ripening process of slow-ripening fruits, the Patella Crescenda for growing your own microgreens all year round, as well as little sibling Patina Germina for sprouts, and the Cibus Domus card game that turns food storage knowledge into something you can play with.

You'll find us in the Klokgebouw on Strijp-S, the heart of Dutch Design Week, right across from the Ketelhuisplein.

Built by Philips in 1928 as a Philite (bakelite) factory, this national monument is now home to over 100 creative businesses.
A fitting stage for a podium about the future of industry.
